Glad you found it! There are many magical treats in Guatemala, the “Land of Eternal Spring”. Many of these treats aren’t as well known because of emphasis placed on the more accessible and familiar sites like Antigua or Tikal.
Coupled with what I would call a milquetoast approach to tourism by the federal government, sites like Semuc Champey are usually overlooked by less adventuresome tourists because of the lack of, or lack of knowledge of first rate hotels and the effort required to reach the more obscure and less “developed” areas.
As someone who has family in Guatemala I may also have an advantage in ‘discovering’ some of the more spectacular sites, and with a non-traditional touristy view.
