Great article!
I was in perpetual loathing of scofflaw cyclists in general when I spent hours every day in pre-pandemic downtown Toronto.
Then, to stay sane, I started riding my bicycle to rediscover movement and the thrill of fresh air blowing across my face and through my hair.
All pre-pandemic memories of the aforementioned scofflaw cyclists vanished with the same wind.
How tempting it can be to scoot across an intersection during a break in vehicular traffic, or to stay in motion and disregard stop signs.
As a senior, I dare not.
I dare not because I need to set an example for others.
I signal every turn.
I understand that there are both “good” and “bad” drivers and cyclists.
Not only do I wish to enjoy continued good health as a provision of my cycling regimen, but to do so without an unnecessary skull fracture or mangled limb or other such affliction caused by my stupidity.
