Well, since WW2 there has been Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and smaller “incidents” where many have gone to fight for their country.
Sadly, these losses pale in comparison to the domestic death rate by gun violence! If the military were to sustain such losses there would be an absolute avalanche of protests.
